Privacy policy
Perceptron scans your network, so you are entitled to know exactly what it does with what it finds. The short version: your scan data stays on your computer, and every connection the app makes is listed below. The people's data belongs to the people.
§ 01 — SCOPE
§ 02 — WEBSITE
§ 03 — DATA STORED ON YOUR COMPUTER
§ 04 — CONNECTIONS PERCEPTRON MAKES ON ITS OWN
Perceptron is not an offline-only application. Without any integration configured, it may contact the following services. None of these transmit your scan results; the only thing ever derived from your devices is the anonymous recognition feed in the second row, and you can turn that off.
| SERVICE | PURPOSE | WHAT IS SENT |
|---|---|---|
| PERCEPTRONSCAN.COM | Application updates, plus the SNMP and device-classification catalogs | Nothing beyond a standard HTTPS request |
| PERCEPTRON‑API.DAILEY.CLOUD | Downloads crowd-learned device-recognition rules. With Improve device recognition enabled (the default), also uploads your device-type corrections so every operator's classifier improves | Vendor, model, sanitized name tokens, and the chosen type — never MAC or IP addresses, hostnames, or site identity — plus a random install id used only to count distinct installs |
| MACLOOKUP.APP · IEEE | Downloads the MAC vendor database for offline use | Nothing — the whole database is fetched, not individual addresses |
| API.APPLEDB.DEV | Downloads the Apple device database and identifies specific Apple hardware models | An Apple model identifier, only when it isn't already cached locally |
| RAW.GITHUBUSERCONTENT.COM | Downloads vendor model catalogs (for example ecobee and Nest thermostat models) | Nothing beyond a standard HTTPS request |
| API.IPIFY.ORG | Returns your public IP so Perceptron can tell which saved site you are currently at | Nothing is uploaded; the request itself reveals your public IP to that service |
UPDATES ARE DELIVERED FROM PERCEPTRONSCAN.COM. NO PERSONAL OR SCAN DATA IS INCLUDED IN AN UPDATE CHECK.
§ 05 — OPTIONAL INTEGRATIONS YOU ENABLE
These are inactive until you configure them. Enabling one means deliberately sending data to that system, under that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
- IT Glue — when you connect a site to an IT Glue organisation, Perceptron reads and writes device documentation there, including device names, addresses, and types.
- Google Sheets — if you connect a Google account, Perceptron can read and write spreadsheets you select. Access is granted through Google's standard sign-in and can be revoked from your Google account at any time.
- OvrC — when configured, Perceptron exchanges device information with the OvrC platform.
- Firewalls and cameras (SonicWall, UniFi, ONVIF) — Perceptron talks to these directly at the address you configure. For gear on your own network, that traffic never leaves it; a remotely hosted UniFi controller is reached over the internet like any other web service.
§ 06 — TEAM SYNC AND SIGN-IN
§ 07 — CREDENTIALS AND SECRETS
§ 08 — DIAGNOSTIC SUBMISSIONS
§ 09 — THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

§ 10 — RETENTION AND DELETION
%APPDATA% on Windows, ~/.config on macOS — and saved credentials live in the operating system's credential store (Credential Manager, Keychain). Delete those too for a complete removal.§ 11 — YOUR RIGHTS
§ 12 — CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Perceptron is a professional network administration tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
§ 13 — CHANGES AND CONTACT
If this policy changes materially, the revision date at the top of this page changes with it. Because Perceptron's behaviour is described here in specific terms, we update this page when the application's behaviour changes — not only when the wording does.
